About
RocBattle
Built by producers.
For producers.
Since 2006.
How it all started
In 2005, Grammy Award-winning producer Rockwilder and Allen Brown, a.k.a. Fat Fingers, teamed up to launch RocBeats.com.
At the time, producers on many forums were frustrated. They didn't want Rockwilder online. They were saying his beats were garbage and that he was trash. No big producers came online, but Rockwilder was one of the first to bring his commercial success to the internet.
The late night conversation
One December night, Allen was checking the traffic logs and reading what producers were saying on forums. He called Rockwilder and told him what people were saying — that his beats were garbage and that he wasn't a good producer.
Rockwilder's exact words were:
“I will battle all of them.
I don't care who they are.
I will battle all of them.”
Allen said, “You'll battle all of them? I'll call you back.”
He went to GoDaddy.com and registered RocBattle.com.
Then he called Rockwilder back:
“Now we can battle them.
We got RocBattle.com.”
That conversation became the beginning of RocBattle.
Rockwilder brought the challenge. Fat Fingers brought the technology.
And RocBattle was born.
In 2006, RocBattle became the biggest production, all-producer website on the internet.
We grew to hundreds of thousands of members, paid out millions of dollars in cash and prizes, and many producers became prominent in the music industry.
Producers used RocBattle to compete, sharpen their skills, build their names, and get their music in front of people throughout the industry.
Industry professionals also discovered talent through RocBattle that would later go on to produce major hits for major artists.
It wasn't just a website — it was a movement.
As seen in XXL
Got beats?
In September 2006, RocBattle.com announced itself to the world in the pages of XXL Magazine with one question — Got Beats? — and one challenge: Step into the ring.
The promise was simple. Battle your beats against producers around the world. Sell your beats with no commissions taken. Upload your music so others can hear it. Enter tournaments for cash prizes and exposure. And for the producers who said Rockwilder couldn't hang, the ad put it in writing: get a chance to battle Rockwilder himself.
Producers answered the call by the thousands. Twenty years later, the ring is open again.
20 years later
RocBattle 5.0
The battle begins again.
In 2026, after 20 years, Rockwilder and Fat Fingers are bringing RocBattle back. RocBattle 5.0 will give today's producers a platform to compete, get recognized, build their names, win prizes, and be part of a global producer community — just like the original, but bigger, better, and built for today's generation.
