You all know we do it big here at RocBattle, constantly innovating and creating new features. The next update to the site will be the biggest one yet, I'm pleased to officially announce: RocBattle.com 2.0 - Coming in January 2007.

Here is a brief feature list of what we have planned...

New Design
- We will be streamlining the design to be more current, while keeping the general theme of the layout (Producer equipment/screens). We also want to make the header area slimmer (less real estate of total page) and the navigation a lot easier and organized as there are more sections being added. Graphics & Animations will be optimized for load time.

Hall of Fame
- We will give administrators the option to mark certain battles as “Hall of Fame” battles, these battles will be showcased on a separate page as the best battles on RocBattle.com. If a producer makes it in here, they will gain more exposure.

Video Section
- Exclusive videos will be only for the Exclusive members… Messages from Rockwilder, Tips, Tricks etc…

Change to Monthly Ranking System
- I think the quarterly ranking system is a bit confusing for people, I would like to switch to the Monthly ranking system we have in place on LetsBeef. This way it will make the site a lot more competitive and simpler to understand. For Exclusive Tourneys we can take the Rankings of 2 months combined.

Genre Rankings
- We will have a separate ranking for each genre as well, which will basically tally up all the battles in a specific genre and show who the Top Producers are for each. This will correspond in the Beat Market as well, i.e under Dirty South you will see the top 10 Dirty South producers of the month. We can possible have icons on producer’s profiles when they are #1 in a specific category indicating so (i.e King of the South, King of the East etc..)

Beat Market Upgrades
- We will make the Beat Market a lot more robust, with better organization, top selling beats from each genre and proper searching/sorting. Basically we want to make this area easier to navigate and find the beat you want to buy quicker.

Affiliate Program for Promoting Producers/Beats
- Exclusive producers will be able to let other members market their beats for them, in other words people can directly link to a beat and take a percentage of the sale if they actually send someone to the beat who buys it. We will provide HTML code links for this easy to use on other sites. This is of course optional.

Subscribe to Producers
- Buyers will be able to “subscribe” to specific producers of their choosing, and when those producers upload new beats to their profiles, the subscribers will be notified with direct links to the new beats.

Beat Purchasing
- Have to Register as a member to make a purchase, can register as an “Artist” if you want to.
- May streamline the beat delivery process, zip all beats into 1 file to reduce bandwidth, allow 7 day expiry of purchases.

Buy-In Tournaments
- We will start genre-specific tournaments and buy-ins tournaments. These may be smaller (or larger) than our standard 64. Prize pools.

Crews
- We will let producers form official Crews, with Crew Pages, Crew Battles and Crew Rankings - more on this later.

There are even more features that I havn't revealed yet, but as you can see this is gonna be pretty major, ground breaking stuff.

I'm fairly new to this site, but I was wondering if an option could be added somewhere when you upload beats to your beat library so you could just upload it for showcase only rather than uploading for it for sale. Like where it asks if the beat is for free or not, your could add the option "for showcase only"...I say this because I would like to showcase beats of mine which may have samples, but I know RB does not allow the sale of beats with samples with them...not that I was planning on selling them in the first place, but just as I take pride in my beats w/o samples, I take pride in my beats that include them too, so I want them to be heard also. So I was wondering if we could still just upload them for others listening pleasures? If so, this would be a very nice addition to the site...

X... how about Silent Vote rooms. This would be nice. It doesnt matter if the voters want to guess who made what beat...there will always be that possibility that they could get it wrong. These rooms can be optional (both battlers must agree to go to silent vote room) If one of the battlers says he did the beat then he is disqualified. One battler can report the battle if the other says which beat is his. I know this is kinda snitchy... but since both agreed to go to the silent vote room then they pay the consequences if they reveal which beat is which. Even if its an option on cash battles... something could work... im wishing for this.

I think you need a voter ranking system. The more battles voted on and commented on. The higher the rank. Maybe the higher the rank is the more the their votes count in battles.

Since we're all going bananas with this crew stuff............i think it would be cool to have crew forums. a member of a crew could start a thread that only other crew members could read and respond to. this would allow to crews to have exclusive meetings. there would also be a general crew forum area where we'd do our trash talking.

Sounds like a lot of work you've got to do! One thing I'd like to see being improved is how the beats when they get played on an exclusive member's profile, they seem to run (stream) slow. Once I click on 'Buy' and play the beat in the commentary page, it seems to work fine so maybe its not my download speed (battles work fine as well). But those upgrades you've got there are gonna make RocBattle 2.0 WONDERFUL. Can't wait!!!!

I dont know if anyone posted this or if the system does it now. But it would be nice to have a feature in voting, that if for some reason you voted for the person you rated lower. It would verify if it was a mistake. If its already in place cool. I dont know about anybody else, but I have questioned if I picked the right person a couple of times.

i really want to introduce the concept of influenced based voting.......where positive reputations have the most effect on votes....as well as negative reputations having the least amount of infuence on votings

lets say.....

reputation is averaged from a point based system which averages the overall reputation votes to a total.......

when 2.0 drops.......everybody's rep is sittin at (50%) which is neutral

as things progress, when a comment is viewed in the battles or in the forums....the user has an option to either give other user a negative rep....or a positive rep, for the comment......

if u didnt agree with a cat's comment to the point it bothers u, u can give them negative rep vote....if u agree, u give em positive rep votes....its all up to that ONE person...

to keep cats from abusing this feature, u can only rep vote the same person 1 time per week....

now, once its time to vote.....

we can do it like this

lets say i got a positive reputation level which is 100% which is as high as it can get...

when i give duke a vote based on some categories i just came up with off the top of my head

style/originality- 5
mix- 4
sound selection-2

my #1 request on the 07 rocbattle is that they allow you to order your song the way you want. cause when you got 40 beats up on your profile alot of people are going to click on the first few and if it ain't what there looking for they gone. and since i have such a wide range of music on my page it hurts my sales some times. if i had what i feel is my most marketable beats at the top of my page i feel like i would have alot more sales. small request so shit i don't see why it shouldn't happen.

I Think they said a Tournament every two months,,, I think they take the 2 months average or something like that,,,,, so i gues it will be 6 tournaments a year, whick i still think its kinda alot,,, I dont mind the current set up, but maybe just a set date of when the quarterly rankings are reset and let that date be well known or the same date always like from Jan 1st -Mar 1st

Everything sounds really good. I have an idea and suggestion that could make the voting system more fair though.

Basically, how about, once both producers have uploaded their beat, the beats are jumbled and the producer of the beat isn't revealed. i feel as though there are a lot of unrealistic votes taking place on rocbattle which make the battles unfair. After all .... it's all about who's beat is better. So if this was put in place, the voters would not know who's beat is which producer's (they can only use their imagination to guess by knowing that certain producer's production style).

We also want to make the header area slimmer (less real estate of total page) and the navigation a lot easier and organized as there are more sections being added. Graphics & Animations will be optimized for load time.

Hall of Fame
- We will give administrators the option to mark certain battles as “Hall of Fame” battles, these battles will be showcased on a separate page as the best battles on RocBattle.com. If a producer makes it in here, they will gain more exposure.

Video Section
- Exclusive videos will be only for the Exclusive members… Messages from Rockwilder, Tips, Tricks etc…

Change to Monthly Ranking System
- I think the quarterly ranking system is a bit confusing for people, I would like to switch to the Monthly ranking system we have in place on LetsBeef. This way it will make the site a lot more competitive and simpler to understand. For Exclusive Tourneys we can take the Rankings of 2 months combined.

Genre Rankings
- We will have a separate ranking for each genre as well, which will basically tally up all the battles in a specific genre and show who the Top Producers are for each. This will correspond in the Beat Market as well, i.e under Dirty South you will see the top 10 Dirty South producers of the month. We can possible have icons on producer’s profiles when they are #1 in a specific category indicating so (i.e King of the South, King of the East etc..)

Beat Market Upgrades
- We will make the Beat Market a lot more robust, with better organization, top selling beats from each genre and proper searching/sorting. Basically we want to make this area easier to navigate and find the beat you want to buy quicker.

Affiliate Program for Promoting Producers/Beats
- Exclusive producers will be able to let other members market their beats for them, in other words people can directly link to a beat and take a percentage of the sale if they actually send someone to the beat who buys it. We will provide HTML code links for this easy to use on other sites. This is of course optional.

Subscribe to Producers
- Buyers will be able to “subscribe” to specific producers of their choosing, and when those producers upload new beats to their profiles, the subscribers will be notified with direct links to the new beats.

Beat Purchasing
- Have to Register as a member to make a purchase, can register as an “Artist” if you want to.
- May streamline the beat delivery process, zip all beats into 1 file to reduce bandwidth, allow 7 day expiry of purchases.

Buy-In Tournaments
- We will start genre-specific tournaments and buy-ins tournaments. These may be smaller (or larger) than our standard 64. Prize pools.

Crews
- We will let producers form official Crews, with Crew Pages, Crew Battles and Crew Rankings - more on this later.

There are even more features that I havn't revealed yet, but as you can see this is gonna be pretty major, ground breaking stuff.
