MAV & OTHERS - MASHUP Help

[Prophecy]

I obviously know what a mashup is... But since it's foreign to me never trying before... What steps to you take to create one?

ie: Choosing songs, adjusting time/speed/pitch, and anything else you would like to add would be really helpful... I'd like to give it a shot since im nearing production on some projects im working on, I'll actually have time to do what I want!

*EDIT* No disrespect to anyone else...but I've heard what Mav can do...and I know that he's one of, if not, the best person to ask about mashups on here

awesome man. they're pretty fun to work on. well, first you need a shitload of acapellas. i downloaded some from a peer 2 peer program, and i also found some at this website: http://www.acapellas4u.co.uk (you have to have an account for 5 days and introduce yourself in the forums to get access, but it's worth it. their archive is huge).

after that, it depends on if i got an acapella i really wanna use, or a rock song i really wanna use. let's say it's an acapella. i turn on my mpc and get a hi-hat goin. eventually, i'll find the tempo of the acapella through trial and error. then, just find a rock song with a similar tempo. I use Sonar to blend em. i just put the pella and the rock song on two seperate tracks. and find a few loops in the rock song i wanna use and that's it. good luck! i wanna hear this shit when you finish!

Well... I will give it a shot... I have so many cds & records its not even funny... So I can find the rock songs....and much love for the link to get some acapellas...

hahaha. i ain't gonna post my first one. it was a good idea, but i didn't do it right. it was nas' "it ain't hard to tell" mixed with sublime's "what i got". then i lost that sublime instrumental, so oh well. oh, and yeah hit me up if it comes out descent. i might be able to get it on the radio.
